This lamp takes only a pygmy bulb, which was not stated anywhere on the leaflet which came with it nor on the website. When I initially came to use it I though there was a problem with the lamp fitting as you simply could not get a conventional golfball shaped bulb into the fitting (let alone anything bigger). Having done some research online and then a call to the online seller the need for a pygmy bulb was noted - these are really small and generally only used in things like sewing machines, ovens, appliances. Have only managed to source a small wattage bulb so far, but hoping a larger wattage will be available. Whether you would ever use as a work lamp I am not sure, but it suits my purpose as a good looking bedside lamp. There needs to be clarification about the bulb the lamp takes on the website.
